Kitchen tile backsplash: Design tips you will want to see
The first thing you have to do is to measure the area you propose to cover with a backsplash. It is important that the measurements are accurately taken since the quantity of tiles needed will be based on your measurements. Use a good tape measure for this work. Transfer the measurements to a graph paper, selecting a proper scale. Take this graph paper with you to purchase tiles. In the store try out all possible colored tiles to get a design or pattern of your liking. While selecting colors keep in mind the colors you have selected or will select for the walls, cabinets and the floor. If your are in doubt about the colors then take the tiles home and view them under the kitchen light to know how the color looks. If you have a tile floor then get an idea of how the backsplash would look with same but smaller tiles. Try out different colors to get the best effect. Try to be as innovative as possible to get a design that is eye-catching and makes a personal statement. For the borders use different set of tiles for greater effect. Lay the tiles in different directions to get something unique. After you are settled on a design, transfer it to the graph paper leaving space for grouting. Now you are ready to buy the various tiles needed for the backsplash. |
