Air Mattress - What should you consider
before buying an air mattress ?
An air mattress is essentially an ordinary
air mattress with an automatic electronic pump that is attached to it.
And an air mattress is a great thing to have especially if you are an avid
outdoors person who camps out a lot, or it is also great to have when you
need a spare bed at home - like when you have guests who stay overnight.
And if you feel a guest needs to sleep on a real bed, then you possibly
will have to sleep on the air mattress ... which may not be too bad if you
are using it once in a while :-)What is an air mattress

Any air mattress is usually from a non-stainable
and non-allergenic and puncture resistant material. You may use a mild household
cleaner and water or some soap and water to clean your air mattress. Using harsh
chemicals to clean an air mattress may not be the right way to clean one.

Before every use, you might want to inspect the
air mattress for leaks ...
Keeping your bed well away from sharp objects and open fires may be a good thing
to do.
When the air mattress is not being used, you might want to store it in a clean
and dry place and in moderate temperatures.

Of late, more durable air mattresses made of durable plastics and intended for
full time home use have come on the market. These are referred to as air beds
and these are distinct from camping mattresses or air mattresses that are used
as swimming pool toys.
Air beds have an electric pump which pumps the air and a firmness controller and
these may be preferred by people who relocate more often.
Things to consider before
you buy an air mattress
With so many kinds of air mattresses around, you
might want a checklist of the things to consider before you buy ...
. Inflation method : Will you have to use your lung power to inflate the
mattress ? Or does it have a convenient pump ? And if you are buying one you
will have to inflate yourself, you might want to buy one with a one way
inflation valve.
Construction : The quality of the material used to make the mattress and
the quality of the welds should also be considered. Highly durable plastics and
good quality welds can enhance the durability of the mattress.
Durability : Air mattresses may not be highly durable and they may not be
good for several years of use. Still, some air mattresses can be very
comfortable while they are good.
Comfort : You spend a lot of your life sleeping and it would be a good
idea to have a bed that is comfortable and provides
good support for your body while you are asleep. Selecting an air mattress that
is very well designed and is very comfortable might be a great idea.
Maintainability : An air mattress should be easily maintainable and
storable.
